Your Ready Writer
Common Questions...And Answers!
A writer, photographer or video producer who has your best interest at heart will
take the time to discuss your project and your goals with you. That's exactly what I
want to do! If you do not find the answers you are looking for here....then
please
contact me at 256-352-4897 or scarlett@yourreadywriter.com

Q:  I AM UNCOMFORTABLE ABOUT GOING ON CAMERA. WHY DO YOU SAY THE PRODUCTION
PROCESS IS EASY?

A:  Many people aren't sure how to begin to tell their story. That's where Your Ready Writer comes in! I
am a seasoned broadcast and print journalist and videographer who can put you at ease as I guide you
through the process! During an initial meeting, I will help you organize your thoughts, and begin to plan
for photos and other materials you want to include. Ladies, I know lighting tricks to make you look your
best on camera! And as a former TV reporter, I can tell you that no one does just one take at a
stand-up...unless it's a live shot! We are recording video. That means you can have as many "takes" as
you like until you've said it just the way you desire! And remember...editing can do wonders, too!

During the interview, I will put you at ease with comfortable conversation in the comfort of your own
home or other setting of your choice. I will talk about topics you already know. Don't worry about
expressing everything perfectly...we can fix it afterwards!

Q :  WHY  DON'T YOU LIST YOUR FEES?

A:  Because each project is different and the requirements to complete each one vary. I want to take
the time we need to partner together to create a work we can both feel great about! This means we
must have clear communication so we're both working from the same page.

During our in-depth meeting (usually in person but occasionally by phone or email) I will be better able to
determine the type of project you desire and
the number of interviews you would like me to record. I can
then also estimate the amount of research I will need to do, how much time will be needed to videotape
additional shots and to transfer photos, videotape, film and slides to digital video so that I can begin
editing. I will also estimate the time I may need to write and then record any narration...and the
approximate amount of time I will need for polishing and editing before I present the finished work.

If you are requesting other writing and editing services, I will use our in-depth interview to determine the
amount of writing, editing and research required to complete your project. The price is also based on
the timeline you specify.

If we agree to partner together on a project, I will submit a proposal and a budget for your approval
before the production process begins. Production (or writing) will commence once the first 50% is paid.
The remainder will be due upon completion and acceptance.

Q:  WHAT DO YOUR FEES INCLUDE?

A:  Our in-depth interview, videotaping, transferring older formats to digital video, recording still photos
and slides, all research and reading I may need to accomplish in order to complete your project, any
additional interviews needed (with individuals for your project or with experts in your business), writing
and editing the story (which includes voice-over narration on DVD projects), burning copies of your
Personal or Corporate DVD as we agreed.

If you are requesting other writing and editing services, the fee includes all research and reading, any
interviews I must conduct, writing and/or proofreading the copy, a revision and a final proofing. Projects
on a get-it-done yesterday timeline (requiring late nights or overnight work) will be charged accordingly.
If at all possible, PLEASE give me as much notice as is possible before the project is due. I will have to
check my schedule to see if I'll be available during your timeline.

Q:  WHAT ARE MY OPTIONS IF I HAVE AN ONGOING PROJECT I WANT YOU TO WORK ON
PERIODICALLY?

A:  With advance scheduling, there are always options available. Let me know the scope of your project
and we will discuss arrangements that make sense for both of us.
